ASTM A269 TP316L Tube (Pipe) Supplier & Exporter in India

ASTM A269 TP316L Tube (Pipe) is a seamless or welded low-carbon austenitic stainless steel tubing designed for general corrosion-resisting and low- to high-temperature service applications. TP316L contains 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, which enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-containing environments.

The reduced carbon content (maximum 0.035%) minimizes chromium carbide precipitation during welding, thereby improving resistance to intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone. Manufactured in accordance with ASTM A269 specifications, TP316L tubing is supplied in the annealed condition and is widely used in marine, chemical, pharmaceutical, and hygienic process industries. Although often referred to as “pipe,” ASTM A269 technically covers stainless steel tubing.

Difference Between TP316 and TP316L

  • TP316 Carbon Content: Maximum 0.08%
  • TP316L Carbon Content: Maximum 0.035%

The lower carbon content in TP316L significantly reduces the risk of sensitization after welding, ensuring improved long-term corrosion resistance in fabricated systems.

Key Features of ASTM A269 TP316L

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance
Molybdenum addition enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in marine and chemical environments.
  • Improved Weldability
Low carbon content prevents carbide precipitation, protecting against intergranular corrosion after welding.
  • Reliable Mechanical Strength
Minimum tensile strength of 485 MPa and yield strength (0.2% proof) of 170 MPa in the annealed condition.
  • Temperature Resilience
Suitable for both low and elevated temperature service conditions.
  • ASTM A269 Compliance
Manufactured according to ASTM A269 requirements for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubing.
